Frequently Asked Questions

cremation urn with lid

How are urns measured?

Each urn has it's physical dimensions listed as well as the interior volume (in cubic inches). The easiest formula for urn size is that each cubic inch is equivalent to one pound of pre-cremation weight (ie an urn of 200 cubic inches is suitable for someone who weighs 200 lbs or less).

What is the best way to affix the lid?

The best way to affix the lid is to run a bead of silicone adhesive (available at any hardware store or Home Depot) around the rim of the urn, then center and affix the urn lid. The lid can later be removed if necessary by carefully wiggling it back and forth to loosen the silicone bead.

Can I bring my own urn to the funeral home or do I have to purchase one of theirs’?

You can absolutely provide your own urn. The funeral home will normally receive the ashes in a sealed bag contained in temporary box or urn, and should be able to transfer the ashes on your behalf.

Is expedited/next day shipping available?

Absolutely. Free standard shipping within North America is included in the purchase price, but next day shipping is available at a small surcharge to cover extra shipping costs.

Do you accept returns?

Yes. If for any reason the urn is different than what you expected, you can return it within fourteen days for a full refund including return postage. If the urn is damaged during shipping, please let me know as soon as possible and I will replace it with a different urn of your choosing or provide a full refund.
